3 Ways to Update a Stone Veneer Fireplace

When renovating a stone veneer fireplace, there are different elements you can update to create new looks, add functionality, and change the atmosphere of the space. Some of the main components, including the hearth, mantel, and firebox, offer unique design and customization opportunities. The hearth is the "floor" in front of the fireplace, and is one of the key focal points that helps set the tone in the room. The mantel refers to the decorative framework above the firebox. And lastly, the firebox is the space that is open to the room, where the fire burns. The projects featured here showcase some of the different ways to update a stone veneer fireplace  to make it completely unique and change the atmosphere of a room.

Greenwich Blue Mosaic fireplace
Greenwich Blue Roughly Squares & Rectangle Fireplace is a perfect fit for this castle-themed home design.

The project above incorporates the fireplace design into the overall "castle" theme of the home. The greys and blues in the Greenwich Blue collection are a great fit for this fireplace and hearth, using the material (supplied by Harken's Landscape Supply) to create a contrast with the other textures and accents in the room. The wood mantel complements the natural stone and adds to the unique look of the living space.

Fieldstone Dark Mosaic fireplaceThe earthy tones in this Fieldstone Dark Mosaic fireplace help make this a standout feature.

This floor-to-ceiling fireplace incorporates different features and functionality. For one, the stone veneer is also a backdrop for the TV. The mantel is simple and decorative, and ties in with the earthy tones of the Fieldstone Dark collection supplied by Landscape Depot. The firebox is open, creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere designed by Wilson Masonry.

CT Blend Mosaic fireplace

This CT Blend Mosaic Fireplace showcases the full range of the collection's colors.

In this last featured project, the hearth is level with the floor, which blends the matching mantel and hearth into the design and the living space. In this renovation, Quinn's Stoneworks & Landscape applied Connecticut Blend thinstone (supplied by Gagne & Son) over the existing brick fireplace to add color, texture, and new life to the room.

When redesigning a stone veneer fireplace, different materials and features can help create themes and make certain elements stand out. With imagination, creativity, and the craftsmanship of a skilled mason, the possibilities are many. Even a small upgrade or addition of natural stone can have a big impact, regardless of the space or project size. For more natural stone inspiration, download our catalog. Delgado Stone Catalog
