Chimney Designs that Inspire with All-Natural Stone

Stone chimneys add a natural but distinct look to a home's exterior, and can complement a variety of other building materials. Natural stone is an especially durable, long-lasting material that requires little maintenance and withstands harsh weather conditions. In addition to the functional benefits, a stone chimney accents the home design, adds a unique personality and texture, and brings the different colors and elements to the rest of the exterior together. Here are a few examples of projects featuring natural stone chimneys and how they complete these home builds.

Connecticut Blend Mosaic chimney

The full range of colors in the Connecticut Blend collection is showcased in this chimney design.

This chimney project by Northeast Walls and Patios extends from the foundation to the roof of this Massachusetts home. The scope of the project is an opportunity to highlight the five different stones in Connecticut Blend Mosaic (supplied by Landcare Stratham Hill) and shows how the collection can tie together different materials and features. The wood siding and darker trim coordinate with and add contrast to the design, and even the stone material used for the foundation blends with the tones and application.

Old New England Rounds chimney

Old New England Rounds add a rustic, charming feel to this chimney project.

These two chimneys in Martha's Vineyard show how a little stone can go a long way in adding impact to a design. While chimneys were once installed simply to ventilate a fireplace, today they are used to add detail and beauty to a home build as well. The project above featuring Old New England Rounds gives a classic oceanside touch, a testament to the design and craftsmanship by MV Stonework. The earthy tones and weathered, textured stone is a fitting way to set this home build apart while embracing the island atmosphere.

Greenwich Blue Strip chimney/walls/accents

Greenwich Blue Strip helps transform this backyard into an entertaintment oasis.

A chimney can be an accent to a home build by itself, but as part of a larger project as shown above, you can see how the consistency makes the design stand out. Greenwich Blue Strip is used in multiple aspects, inclluding the chimney, stone walls, and accents, in this beautiful backyard, adding blue and grey tones against the lighter siding and wood accents. The combination creates a stunning spot for gathering and relaxing, and using low-maintenance, durable material for a larger part of the project only adds to the convenience and enjoyment.

There are a variety of ways to incorporate a natural stone chimney into your home build, depending on your style and exterior design. Even if you don't need a stone chimney to vent smoke away from a fireplace, you can still build one as an accent to your home. For more natural stone inspiration, download our catalog.
