Before and After: Split Flagstone Walkway Adds Charm and Curb Appeal

Walkways have many purposes: they connect different areas of a property, bring different design elements together, and add curb appeal to a home. This project does all of these things--and completely transforms the aesthetic of this Connecticut home. The original space (shown below) had a paved path from the driveway to the front door until the addition of natural flagstone (or flagging) gave the landscape structure and definition. Using Old New England Wall Split Flagstone (which is split approximately 1"-4" thick) the talented team at Meadowbrook Gardens added color, character, and style to the entry and the front yard.

One of the challenges when deciding on materials was wanting the front porch to coordinate with the walkway, which led the landscaper to suggest bluestone. The client explored other options, including pavers (which they also considered the Mahal Collection) but ultimately liked the natural look of Old New England Wall Split Flagging. "We liked the subtle color of the split flagstone, and with a cape, we wanted something that looked more rustic," the homeowners said.

Old New England Wall, a fieldstone collection with tones of tan, cream, grey, and brown with a weathered exterior was the perfect fit for their project and complemented the existing front porch. High-quality plantings completed the new look, and made the home more welcoming for the residents and visitors alike!
