3 Brick Fireplace Upgrades Featuring Natural Stone Veneer

There are several ways to update a brick fireplace, but adding natural stone veneer is definitely our favorite! Whether replacing the brick entirely, or enhancing it with the addition of natural stone, this is a great way to add color, style, and personality into a home, and create a more customized space. Here are two projects that showcase brick to natural stone veneer upgrades, and one that actually incorporates both for a new and unique look.

Brick fireplace, before Old New England Rounds natural stone application.

Before: a brick fireplace/wall.

The brick fireplace and wall in the photo above makes the room feel monochromatic and darker. Thanks to the talents of Old Stone Farm, and the skilled installation of Old New England Rounds supplied by The Rockshop at New Hampshire Thinstone, the space underwent a complete makeover, and you can see the incredible results in the photo below! With the weathered, earthy tones and soft edges of this natural stone collection, the room is brighter, more open, and a more inviting space to spend leisure time.

After: Old New England Rounds create a more welcoming, relaxing atmosphere.

Another floor-to-ceiling fireplace featured below shows the complete transformation natural stone can make, and how stone and wood are a "natural" fit! With the skilled craftsmanship of Quinn's Stone Works Landscaping with Connecticut Blend Mosaic supplied by Gagne & Son, the impact of this upgrade adds instant appeal to the living space. The variations in the five different stones in Connecticut Blend add color and warmth, turning it into a standout feature that also complements the existing wood floor.

Replacing brick with natural stone is one option, but this last project shows how to incorporate both into the same space. Below is a stunning design by Libby's Custom Masonry, which combines the classic brick look with the Connecticut Blend Roughly Square & Rectangles collection for a sleek, modern upgrade. (The Rockshop at New Hampshire Thinstone supplied the stone for this project, as well.) Combining a traditional look with a newer, more contemporary one adds a special touch to this home and shows how creativity and imagination make all the difference when it comes to design.

Whether you choose to replace an existing brick fireplace with stone veneer, or redesign a feature that makes the best use of both, there are many ways to upgrade and make the most of any design and living space. As you can see here, no two projects are the same--and each design, installation, and stone collection adds its own unique signature. For more natural stone inspiration, download our catalog.
